lampit's taken me all week to get this up, but it's been waiting in the ranks since sunday. i really have been trying to draw more this week than last. i've come to the realization that part of this has to do with my reading
memoirs of a geisha all last week. so now that that's done, it's back to the drawing.
i used one of my favorite fountain pens for this drawing and then played with adding water. that ink really is
quite water soluble! it was fun getting to be a little messy. it was also fun to see how the ink seperated into its seperate components of color. (good old
dye chromatography!)
Yeah really cool, particularly the depth you created underneath the shade. That looks great. You did a great job with that ink. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love the water-soluble look - great job. I'm particularly fond of the brush pen which does the same thing, so this really appeals to me.
ReplyDeleteI also loved Memoirs of a Geisha ... what a great book. The movie is out this week, I think ... but I don't see how they could do it justice.
Love the soft wetness of it.
ReplyDeletevery rad seeks. i love the ink bleeds.
ReplyDeleteyou are such a talented chica. how can someone be so freaking smart, sweet and such a great artist?
you are just a the seeks!
What a great lamp! Love how that ink was just perfect.
ReplyDeleteGreat technique, it's very effective!
ReplyDeleteI love the wet-ink look on this!
ReplyDeleteNice lamp, but what I really love is the look of your blog! It is way cool. Your banner is great. I've been wanting to change the look of mine from the standard Blogger fare, but don't have any idea how to do it.
ReplyDeleteThis lamp is beautiful, worthy of framing...
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful. I too love drawing this way. I want to get a brush pen as Karen suggests.
ReplyDeleteWow your sketch is beautiful....I love the effect the water had on it too!
