Everyday Matters Challenge #32: Something Metallic
i'm still playing around with watercolors and ink. this is mainly an inkwash, but i put some color in to pull the bowl in the background out a bit more. i have to admit that i had to increase the contrast on photoshop once it scanned. like niff has stated before, scanners don't realy like water colors. and i am still trying to play up contrast with them.
it's fun to actually look at metallic objects, though. you don't notice how much you see in them until you try to draw them. (like the big black inkbottle, and napkins, and a little shelf in the corner...)

Oh. I thought that was you I saw in the reflection. I like this a lot. It looks charcoaly and not inky for some reason.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous piece, all those reflections are done wonderfully. And I like Attica so much!
ReplyDeleteGreat reflections!
ReplyDeleteThat was me, I wasn't trying to be anonymous.
ReplyDeleteGreat reflections, again!
really like how everything kinda blends together, no sharp outlines, and the textural quality to the watercolor. You've really captured the look of shiny metal, it's great!
ReplyDeleteWow...beautiful reflections!!

Very nice seeks! I especially love the inside of the cup and the inkbottle reflection.
ReplyDeleteI have some advice that would pop out the cup even more: try and get the light reflected edge on the sides of the cup. it should be subtle, but if its there it really makes a difference.
you really make me smile!
