secret santa

book cover
outer covers

this weekend, ian and i participated in the legendary secret santa exchange (it was our first) with the philly crew. i got rachael, and since i know she likes altering books, i thought i'd make her one. above are the outer covers. below are the inner covers.

i did the binding in coptic stitch, and i thought i did reasonably well, though i did rip some of the watercolor paper i put in the book. i put water color paper, two different types of sketch paper, black paper, and little inserts from a japanese workbook. i didn't want to bombard you with pictures, so i only did the two scans above. if you want to see more, you'll have to check with rachael.

as for my gift, i got a beautiful three-toed sloth bag from the beautiful eleanor. yay for eleanor!!

  1. This book is absolutely beautiful and was such an incredibly thoughtful gift. I've gone to it with pen, pastel, etc in hand, but am reluctant to defile it! I'll let you know when I get the nerve to use it...

  2. i'm so glad you like it rachael! i hope you defile it every day! it's not really defiling it. it's helping it realize its purpose. i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed coming up with it.
