Wishful thinking on projects

I found myself surfing Etsy today (on which I'll post more eventually), and came across this dress from Violetville Vintage:

Super cute and super simple, right? 

At $89.99, it's just not in my budget, but I do have this pattern that I bought at JoAnn Fabric on sale ($1):

I feel like I can use that as a base to make a very similar dress. Simple solid color with contrast stitching and a tie, switch up the skirt to be more a-line with a less drapey material. I think I'm set. :)
